Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) has appointed Drew Shearer as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective October 1, 2024. Shearer succeeds Philip Rowley, who has led significant transformations at the studio during his eight-year tenure. Shearer brings nearly 30 years of experience with SPE, having held various roles since joining as Director of Internal Audit for Sony Corporation of America in 1996. He previously served as Finance Director of Sony Pictures Television Studios and Divisional CFO of global businesses before being promoted in 2014 to Executive Vice President and Group Divisional CFO. His leadership has encompassed global financial affairs across various corporate departments and businesses within the studio.
Tony Vinciquerra, Chairman and CEO of SPE, praised Shearer’s deep knowledge of the business and financial acumen, stating that his leadership comes at a dynamic time for the industry. Rowley expressed gratitude for his time at SPE, noting the successful years the company has experienced under his guidance. SPE, a subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation, specializes in motion picture and television production and distribution, operating numerous production companies worldwide, including Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation.
