HSBC, one of the world's largest banking and financial services organizations, has announced the appointment of Andrew Fullam as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the United States and Americas region. Fullam, a seasoned professional with nearly two decades of experience at HSBC, returns to the London-based bank after a brief stint at Wells Fargo.

Previously serving in key roles within HSBC, as the regional CFO for commercial banking and global banking and markets, Fullam brings a wealth of expertise in corporate finance and strategic planning. His most recent role as interim CFO for the Americas in 2019 underscores his familiarity with the bank's operations and structure.

In his new capacity, Fullam will be based in New York and will report to Michael Roberts, CEO of U.S. and Americas, and Kavita Mahtani, CFO of HBEU and Western Markets. Roberts expressed confidence in Fullam's ability stating, “His understanding of HSBC combined with his existing relationships built over 17 years across the region will enable him to make an immediate impact when he steps into the role.”

Fullam's return coincides with significant developments within HSBC, including recent changes in its executive leadership and strategic initiatives. The appointment follows the approval of Royal Bank of Canada's acquisition of HSBC's Canada unit, signaling a strategic realignment for the bank's operations in North America.

Having worked in various global financial hubs such as New York, London, and Dubai, Fullam has demonstrated his adaptability and leadership across diverse markets. His roles in strategic planning, stress testing, and US transformation underscore his multifaceted skill set and ability to navigate complex challenges. As HSBC continues to adapt to changing industry landscapes, his return signals a reinvigorated commitment to excellence and innovation in financial services.

Educationally, Fullam holds an MBA from Columbia University and a bachelor's degree in science from Washington and Lee University, highlighting his commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
